La Barba Cigars Purple

The second cigar in the La Barba portfolio is a stunner. Produced by Tony Bellatto and Craig Rossi in the Dominican Republic at Tabaclera William Ventura. The wrapper has a nice creamy brown color with distinguished leaf lines. I get a soft pepper from the wrapper. Cold draw has some earthy and tobacco notes that are smooth.

Brand: La Barba Cigars

Wrapper: HVA Habano Ecuadorian

Binder: Dominican Corojo

Filler: Corojo, HVA Habano and a rare varietal called Carbonell

Strength: Medium

Size: Robusto 5.0 x 50

Price: $8.00

First puffs– A really unique start with its creamy white pepper and soft oak finish. Also get hints of cinnamon and nougat.

La Barba Purple Smoked

First third– The pepper is still the main component. However it is very soft. There are also notes of nouget, cinnamon, oak, and cocoa. Slightly noticeable is a faint floral taste.  The draw is amazing and smoking very nicely. Very creamy and easy to smoke.
Second third– Strength begins to pick to a solid medium with the pepper come through strong. Behind it are the cocoa and cinnamon. Still creamy smooth and drawing nicely, producing a nice amount of smoke. The burn lines were a little off, but not too bad.

La Barba Purple Final Smoked

Final third– The spices are up front and are mixed with an earthy nougaty cinnamon taste. Its really tasty and creamy.

Overall a fantastic smoke that I highly suggest getting a box of. La Barba has really stepped up their game, learning from the first cigar (Red) and improving both in quality and flavor profiles. If you see this in your local B&M dont hesitate to pull the trigger and buy. You can also find this cigar at cigarfly.com, be sure to add LaBarba Purple in your order notes.
