Let me start out by saying that the original Cellar Reserve was amazing, an instant classic. With that said, I expected this to be the same. Mainly because the Limitada version only replaced the Criollo 98 wrapper from the original Cellar Reserve with a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper, the fillers did not change. The wrapper is now a deep brown that reminds me of a classic pair of worn leather shoes. The smell is amazingly sweet with underlying musk of raw tobacco. You get the classic cellar reserve band that resembles a wine bottle label but it’s gone to the dark side and it’s not coming back. The pigtail cap just confirms the craftsmanship that has gone into this cigar. Cold draw tastes like cashews with cayenne spice.

First puffs– It begins with a sharp spice that somehow is so mellow it doesn’t conflict with the sweet nuttiness that’s present. The smoke production is medium and burn is good.

First third– Smooth and light is what is going down with first section. Each flavor just plays so nicely with each other. There are hints of oak, cashew, and pepper.
Second third– The sweetness of cocoa slips into the mix a coats this flavor experience like a truffle. The pepper is still present but is not overpowering. Smoke production has improved though and really burning nicely.

Final third– Still smooth and satisfying. Flavors remain consistent and that’s a great thing, because this is damn tasty. The smoke production is still going strong. The only addition is a slight mustiness.

Overall an amazing cigar once again for Gurkha and easily rates in my top 5 of 2013 produced cigars. If you enjoyed the original Cellar Reserve than you will for sure love this reboot of the original. The wrapper provides an interesting mix to what you may already know and love about this cigar. I would highly suggest this not only be a must try and buy, but I would stock your humidor with it as well.
