I was at my local cigar shop looking for something different to try, the EP Carrillo stuck out. Its light chocolatey wrapper looked to nice to pass up. It smells sweet and of a light tobacco. Cold draw has a sweetness to it as well. The wrapper is kind of standard looking, nothing to amazing but it has two bands with the second showing Short Run 2013. Each year EP Carrillo produces the same 3 sizes in limited numbers, but with different blends, called Short Run.

First puffs– There is a light spice and a taste of nuts. There is a small wood flavor underneath. The draw is very loose and smoke is pouring out.

First third– The smokability is off the charts. Absolutely smooth and creamy. The flavors consist of spices, nuts, wood, and now something sweet kind of citrus flavored. The draw on this cigar is top notch, I like my cigars a bit loose and this delivers.
Second third– Still smoking like a champ. Flavors haven’t shifted much, but that is good by me. I couldn’t get the first band off, had to smoke through it.
Final third– The wood flavors take over with pepper notes sitting on my tongue.

Overall a fantastic smoke and really enjoyable. The flavors were complex enough and were not overpowering. The draw was amazing and smoke production perfect. Construction was also great. I highly recommend this if you can get your hands on one.
